England Cricket Legend Tees Off with SIV Conferencing and Events

A unique event combining sporting and banqueting excellence has been facilitated by leading events company Sheffield International Venues (SIV) when it hosted the Darren Gough Charity Golf Day and Dinner in aid of Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity

Former England and Yorkshire cricketer Darren returned home for an afternoon of golf at SIV's Beauchief Golf Course, where more than 80 players including his celebrity friends and other competitors gathered for a lunchtime reception in the clubhouse before teeing off in teams of four players.

Cricket celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing winner Darren became a patron of the region's dedicated cancer hospital earlier this year and decided to help raise much needed funds for its charity after his friend Darren Hayes was treated for testicular cancer.

After an afternoon of golf, the event transferred to City Hall Sheffield’s spectacular Ballroom for a four course dinner and evening of entertainment for more than 200 guests.

As part of the live entertainment Darren continued to entertain guests by showcasing his dancing talent with Siobhan Dillion – star of BBC’s How to Solve a Problem like Maria.

Darren also presented top auction prizes which included a framed Michael Jackson signed photo

Andy Carnall, SIV’s Golf Sheffield General Manager, said: “It is the first time that we have had the opportunity to combine our Golf brand with the City Hall for an event of this nature so it was fantastic to be able to launch this new concept with such a high profile occasion. Both the golf and dinner elements were a massive success”

Dominic Stokes General Manager of SIV Conferencing and Events as well as City Hall Sheffield added “At SIV, our offer is about strength in numbers, in terms of the variety and flexibility of combinations for business events, and this is an example in that we can literally accommodate any request, and all on the same order form”
